replica rolexGUANGZHOU, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- A former city police chief in south China's Guangdong Province on Wednesday admitted charges of accepting bribes at a court hearing.
Ye Shuyang, former chief of the Public Security Bureau of Shaoguan City, appeared in the Intermediate People's Court of Heyuan City, charged with taking bribes worth more than 2.5 million U.S. dollars.
Ye accepted the bribes from 2001 to 2008, when he served in a variety of Communist Party of China (CPC) and administrative posts in public security authorities in Guangdong, prosecutors of Heyuan City told the court.
In return, he had abused his tag heuer replica authority by offering illicit benefits to business operators, interfering in judicial investigations, sheltering a drug dealer, and assisting bribe- givers avoid investigations and achieve other advantages, said prosecutors.
In addition, Ye, 54, could not explain the sources of more than 16 million yuan (2.34 million U.S. dollars) of assets.
Ye was stripped of his post in October, 2008.
Ye's nephew Jiang Haiwen also stood trial in the same court Wednesday for the charge of taking 280,000 yuan of bribes.
Jiang served as a researcher of a district-level court in Shaoguan.
Jiang admitted that he had collaborated with
embroidered patches Ye in bribe-taking and acted as a go-between for Ye and bribe-givers.
The court did not make a sentence Wednesday and the case continues.
Ye's case was one of a series of corruption crimes Guangdong has cracked down upon in recent years.
A number of officials of various local authorities and leaders of business units were investigated for economic crimes, according to the provincial discipline watchdog.
