MINUTES after leaving a lecture on "Crime and Punishment", two 88-year-old women were robbed and one was hurled to the ground.
Retired teacher Nancy Camrass was still in hospital today with cracked ribs, six days after the brutal attack in Fink Hill, Horsforth, Leeds, and a senior detective appealed for help to catch the thug.
Mrs Camrass, recently given the Horsforth Citizen of the Year award for voluntary work for the aged, left Horsforth Museum on The Green, Horsforth, with her partially sighted friend at 9.30pm last Tuesday.
Grabbed
They crossed the road to the car park on Fink Hill opposite St Margaret's Hall, where they had left Mrs Camrass's vehicle.

"I had gone ahead a little to open the car door when I heard my friend speaking to somebody," said Mrs Camrass, a widow.
"I turned around and saw this man had my friend's handbag and realised there was some funny business. I opened the car door wider as I was concerned to get her to safety and called to her. But then he came up behind me, pushed me forward and said something like 'I want your bag' and grabbed hold of it. He pulled the bag and knocked me to the ground and ran off."
A man and woman helped Mrs Camrass and she was taken by ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment to hand and rib injuries. She was released the following day, but readmitted on Friday when her condition worsened. A year ago she had the first of two cancer operations.

I was not bothered about me, though I walk with a stick. It was my partially sighted friend who I was most concerned about."

A separate witness saw the raider run to a blue hatchback car which was driven off by an accomplice down Fink Hill, and turned right into the Ring Road towards Horsforth roundabout.
He said the robber was white, in his late teens or early 20s and wearing a distinctive, light trilby-style hat and light clothing.
Today Det Insp Andy Williams appealed for anyone who witnessed the robbery, recognised the description of the attacker or getaway car or who had found the stolen bags and contents to ring Weetwood CID on Leeds 2413459 or Crimestoppers on Freephone 0800 555 111.
He said: "This was a callous and cowardly robbery on two elderly and vulnerable ladies, one of whom has ended up injured and in hospital."
